Project Summary :

This project is for a new multi-use facility focusing on static but educational exhibitions along with some office space. The facility will be a permanent museum exhibition displaying: -

  • War relics;
  • Local culture and ethnographic art;
  • Natural history;
  • Earth science including vulcanological exhibit;
  • Pre and post colonization information;
  • Artifacts, which are currently decaying due to lack of appropriate storage space.
 

The project will also provide space for: -

  • A locally run museum shop;
  • Offices for the Tourism Authority and other selected businesses;
  • A wildlife sanctuary and aviary; and
  • An Education Centre including interactive activities for children, an area for local artists to sell handicrafts and a small conference room and/or classroom.
 

Latest Update :

AWF have presented a proposal to the East New Britain Tourism Authority and are awaiting their response to continue with the project.
