Project Summary:

This project is a long running collaboration between Aussie Action Abroad (formerly Ozquest) and AWF. It offers students and professionals an opportunity to work in Nepal with local communities and support health, education, water supply and facitlity provision. The project has been delivering successful results for 6 years.

Latest Update - March 2012:

This year was the first expedition for Aussie Action Abroad as an entity. While the size of the group was smaller than in previous years, the architects/ architecture students aspect of the Nepal expedition was a success. The smaller group allowed for flexibility while yielding the challenges of a smaller group. The students and Graduate architect that participated in the Nepal trip will take with them experiences and encounters that will hopefully impact not only on their lives but also their architecture this in turn will impact on their community with a positive outcome.

The two projects undertaken in the 2011 -2012 Expedition were in Bhulbule and Mongoladaya:

1. Bhulbule School

The group worked alongside local tradesmen to insert a transparent roof sheeting to the existing classrooms

2. Mongoladaya School

The group worked to transform an existing room into a kindergarten
