Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact Project Update

The new secretariat office facility in Chiang Mai, Thailand for the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact is nearing completion. In late September Paul Von Chrismar from Buro Architects and AWF Project Coordinator Ryan Moroney who have worked on the project since late 2015, will be attending the projects inauguration.

The new building hopes to play a significant part in allowing the growing AIPP team to achieve its mission of strengthening the solidarity, cooperation and capacities of indigenous peoples in Asia to promote and protect their rights, cultures and identities, and their sustainable resource management systems for their development and self-determination.

Two passively cooled mud brick pavilions border a pond and landscaped garden offering spaces for staff and visitors to meet and converse outside. Inside flexible workstation alcoves are created for each department, separated by timber and bamboo storage partitions for the collection of Indigenous artefacts, photographs and core AIPP publications to be on show.
